Drive-Up Viewpoints
Spectacular views without the hike. Perfect for travelers with mobility limitations, families with young children, or anyone who wants stunning panoramas without the effort
Some of Madeira's most dramatic panoramas are reachable by car. A narrow road ends at a car park, you step out, and you're standing at the edge of a cliff with the entire south coast below. No trail required, no fitness threshold, no gear preparation. These drive-up viewpoints are the fastest way to understand the island's scale — the vertical relief, the deep valleys, the way cloud sits at exactly 1,200m while Funchal stays dry below. Several are also starting points for easy short walks if you want more than the view from the car park. Road quality varies: some approaches are smooth, others narrow and steep.
